Tasted from multiple samples (as well as a final blend), the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape is going to be a beauty. All of the samples had a Grand Cru Red Burgundy-like style in their mouthfeel and structure. With more red fruits as well as lots of rose, violet, and sappy flower notes, this peppery, medium-bodied, focused, elegant Châteauneuf has tons of tannins, a focused, precise mouthfeel, and a gorgeous finish. It's a beautiful wine that's going to need 4-5 years of bottle age.

Barrel sample. The wine may be young, but it already has a fine balance of fruit and structure. Its ripe tannins go with the black-plum and berry fruits to give a wine of fine promise.

The 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape scores with a redolent perfume of ripe strawberry, raspberry, licorice and rose petal. Ample freshness balances the 15.5% alcohol. Full- bodied, concentrated and framed by a firm tannic corset, the 2022 is a long-distance runner. Patience is advised.
