Entirely from our Lone Star Vineyard, 2018 Nuthouse Pinot Noir highlights the structured, yet refinement of the Eola-Amity Hills. Black cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and savory herbs are buoyed by a dense core of fresh, vibrant acidity. The wine opens with sleekness and elegance while finishing with persistent, polished tannin. Cold soaking and fermenting in small, 1.5-ton fermenters enhances silky texture, while 20% whole cluster inclusion increases freshness, complexity, and length.
Twenty-five years ago, Argyle began making wine in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Since 1987, winemaker Rollin Soles and viticulturist Allen Holstein have teamed up to produce world-class method champenoise sparkling wines, barrel-fermented Chardonnay, and silky-textured Pinor Noir from low-yielding vines that are winery farmed on some of the best hillside slopes and elevations. Argyle wines have received a total of 11 Wine Spectator Top 100 designations - more than any other winery in Oregon. The Argyle wines represented on this list include sparkling wine, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, truly making Argyle one of the finest practitioners of the craft of elegant, long-lived winegrowing.
Limpid ruby. Pungent, spice-tinged cherry and black raspberry scents show very good clarity and pick up hints of wood smoke, candied rose and vanilla with air. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering appealingly sweet red and dark berry flavors and subtle allspice and mocha flourishes. Finishes long and subtly chewy, with discreet tannic grip and building florality. 20% whole clusters and 25% new French oak. Best After 2023.
Filled with tension and verve, with lively acidity framed by blueberry and cherry flavors laced with rose petal and spice and finishing with fine grained tannins. Drink now through 2028.
