Real deal Montepulciano for Marche (as opposed to Abruzzo). Notes of cigar box (cedar and tobacco), balance with subtle currant, plum, licorice root, and black cherry. The tannic structure is noticeable, but I wouldn't call this austere (for drinkers of Euro wines). As if a piece of Bordeaux were dropped into central Italy.
